12th End Sports Network Announces Webcasting Team for 2017 USA Curling National
The 12th End Sports Network (TESN.US) is proud to announce its webcast team for the 2017 USA Curling National Championships, which will be held from February 11th-18th, 2017. The event will be held at the Xfinity Arena in Everett, WA.
The Play-by-Play voice for most draws will be TESN CEO Joe “The Godfather” Calabrese. Joe, a graduate of Penn State University, has been the lead play-by-play voice for each USA National Championship since 2012. Joe, a frequent playdown participant, curls out of the Rochester Curling Club in Rochester, NY and is a four-time RCC Men’s Club Champion.
Lead Producer/Director for the 2017 Webcast is TESN President, Brian “B.A.” Anderson. Brian, also a graduate of Penn State, has a Chemical Engineering degree, curls out the Rochester Curling Club and is a four-time Men’s Club Champion. "B.A." invented and developed Scorestreamer, the software package that allows TESN.US to do many of the graphical overlays in the webcast.
Lead Analyst for the 2017 Webcast is Sean Murray. Sean started curling in early 2002 at the Potomac Curling Club in Laurel MD and relocated to Wisconsin in summer 2012 to pursue better curling opportunities. Sean reached his first Men's National Championship in 2013 as well as winning a silver medal at the 2013 Mixed National Championship. From 2008-2016 Sean qualified for nine straight mixed National Championships (winning two silver and three bronze medals). Sean now curls out of the Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine, MN. Sean has called games for TESN‘s Nationals Webcast since 2013, also working webcast for the US Open of Curling, as well as the St. Paul Cashspiel and the US Junior National Championships.
Serving as the Chief Interviewer and On-Ice Reporter, Price Atkinson, will be supporting the webcast for the first time this year. Price is a veteran journalist, broadcaster and sports talk radio host locally in the Upstate of South Carolina. He co-hosts an afternoon drive time show "Straight Up With Sturg" on ESPN Upstate radio and recently completed his third season co-hosting the Clemson football postgame call-in show "The Xtra Point," which ended in Tampa where the Tigers captured the 2016 National Championship. Prior to radio, Atkinson cut his teeth in the field specializing in sports writing and print journalism as a graduate from the University of Kentucky where he was a four-year, Division I swimmer for the Wildcats. In addition to radio where he's covered the last-two College Football Playoff semifinals and national championship games, as well as other postseason bowl games, Super Bowl 50 and the 2015 Little League World Series, he's also done play-by-play and anchored local ESPN3 broadcasts for various sports.
Chris Rimple will serve as a Webcast Producer at the 2017 Nationals. After learning to curl in 2008 at the Granite Curling Club in Seattle, WA, Chris was unsatisfied with the short season, so he led a very successful 10-week “spring league” that continues to this day. He built and manages the webcast program at Granite Curling Club, which includes 24/7 broadcast of all on-ice activities, as well as past major events including the 2014 Junior Nationals, 2015 Men’s Challenge Round, and the 2016 Pacific Northwest Mixed Doubles Invitational. Apart from curling, Chris has had a long career in software product development and spent 5 years as a member of the USA Skydiving Team.
Rich Harmer partners with TESN to provide on ice photos and videos used in the webcast. Rich is an avid curling supporter and IT Professional. Besides shooting the occasional wedding, Rich has shot many Cash Spiels, US Curling Nationals and the 2014 Olympics. You can say hello to him at the Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine, MN., where he curls two nights a week.
Terry “TK” Davis will serve as the Director of Media Production for the webcast. Davis, who curls out of the Stevens Point Curling Club, has served as Director of Communications for USA Curling since 2002 and has worked at four Olympic Games as a press officer and at numerous world and national championships. Davis specializes in writing, athlete interviews, social media, and public relations of championship curling events. Terry is responsible for the content of the webcast, including scheduling of interviews, designing questions for guests of the webcast, scripting sponsor messages, and scheduling of on-air talent.
The team will be joined by those in the curling community and Nationals competitors in the booth as interview guests and guest commenters.
In addition to the broadcast team, the 2017 USA Curling Nationals TESN webcast is supported by the United State Olympic Committee, the United States Curling Association, the Granite Curling Club Membership, and CurlingZone. Financial support for webcast equipment has been provided by the Peskoff Family Foundation. To view the 2017 Nationals Webcast, visit www.usacurl.org.
